Installing Windows on your Mac using Boot Camp

AgExpert Analyst and Field Manager Pro are rated for Windows use only. To use the software on a Mac, you must install a Windows emulator such as Boot Camp. Boot Camp typically comes installed on your Mac system and is located in your Utilities folder.

CAUTION: FCC Management Software can’t troubleshoot any issues that you might encounter with your Boot Camp installation. We can support the AgExpert Analyst and Field Manager Pro software, but any issues that arise due to Boot Camp are beyond the scope of your Customer Care Plan.

Before you begin, make sure that you have a current, valid Windows license. It must be a full OS install, NOT an upgrade DVD. If you don’t have an installation DVD from Microsoft, you can purchase a license by visiting the Microsoft Store.

To install Windows:

  1. Back up your files. This is vital in case anything goes wrong during your installation.
  2. Check for software updates. Mac OS asks that you complete all OS X updates before attempting to install Windows.
  3. Prepare your Mac for Windows. This includes setting up a partition for Windows. Mac OS suggests that if you’re going to install Windows 8, create a partition that’s at least 30 GB. You can’t resize your partition after this step is completed.
  4. Install Windows. Use the link at the end of this article to open the instructions to complete this step.
  5. Install Windows support software. This will allow your Mac hardware to work properly in the Windows environment. You’ll be asked to restart your computer when this step is complete.
Once you’ve completed these steps, you should be able to begin using Windows on your Mac computer. For complete installation instructions, go to the Boot Camp installation guide.
