Technical > Checking your Operating System Version > Windows & Mac

If you are ever in need of contacting support, the operating system you are currently running will be one of the questions asked.

Your operating system is what makes your computer run.  It runs other programs or applications, and recognizes your keyboard and mouse.  The two major operating systems are Windows and Macintosh.

  1. If you are running Windows, you can find your version by going to your Control Panel.  This can be found generally by either clicking on your start menu and selecting Control Panel, or by searching for Control Panel at the bottom of the screen.

  2. In the Control Panel, you will click on System and Security.  Then, click on System.

  3. Your Windows version will be listed on this screen where it says Windows Edition.

  1. If you are running on a Mac, you can find your version by clicking on the Apple icon at the top left corner of your screen.  From there, click on About this Mac.

  2. A window will open in the middle of your screen with information about the MacOS version you are running.
