Setting up and maintaining equipment
The equipment list is used to track additional input costs for harvest and operation records. In order for the program to provide you with accurate profit and loss reporting, you must specify the equipment that was used on each harvest and operation record. You will also need to estimate a usage cost for each equipment item.
A separate list is maintained for each crop year. To open the equipment window, click Equipment for (year) in the Setup menu.
Note: When you select an equipment type from the Filter Equipment drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the window, all of the items that match the chosen type will appear in the Choose Equipment list below.
To add a new item to the list, click . Enter the following information in the General tab and click Save orSave & Close.
- Name - enter the name of the equipment.
- Type - select the type of equipment from the list or enter your own if it doesn’t appear. Once you add your own type, it will appear in the equipment filter throughout the program. If you wish to modify an item in the list, click the pencil button and make the change.
- Usage Cost - enter the estimated cost of using the equipment. For operation records, the cost can be measured on a per area or time basis. For harvest records, the cost can be measured on a per area, time, weight or volume basis.
- Ownership - select whether the equipment is owned, rented, leased or run by a custom operator.
- Owner - if the equipment is rented or leased, select the appropriate owner from the drop-down list. You can add a new owner by entering a new contact in the Contact List in the Setup menu.
- Notes - enter any additional information about the equipment.
To edit an item in the list, select the item and click , make your desired changes, and click Save or Save & Close.
- Click to cancel adding or editing the item.
- To delete an item from the list, select the item and click .
- Click to copy an item to the previous or next year.
- Select the Cleaning tab to keep track of your equipment’s cleaning records.
- Select the Maintenance tab to keep track of your equipment’s maintenance records.
